The poll is flawed. It assumes that the Significant Other does not play. :\

But, my RL wife does play (actually more rabidly the I do). :D

So our discussion about 4th edition has an entirely different context then outlined in the poll.

I said "doesn't care," but it's actually different. It's more like, "you never buy anything for yourself anymore. Go get it!" "Isn't it coming out for Christmas, or something? Why don't you buy it?"

She constantly complains that I should go treat myself and buy something, and she wants me to be happy. She also looks hot and loves me. It's getting to where I can't stand it!
I feel really sorry for you.

QFT! My wife is mostly unhappy that the DI isn't up and ready yet, as she wants the character generator to make her life easier. Buying the books is no argument, in fact she normally buys them and starts on them before I get home from work!

My wife isn't gonna care. I only buy the core books and the occasional sourcebook....That's not alot of money spent on D&D over 5 years

Yea, the wife came down and saw a lot of books laying around after the last game..."You are still going to use these books when the new editioncomes out right?? RIGHT????"

What do you say to that?

Don't worry about it, mum.

Didn't you hear? They're all core in 4e. :)

I can't vote on the poll, because the choice that fits my situation isn't present:

"Maybe. I'm fickle and may want it despite her wishes, but more than likely, she'll want it despite my wishes."

If my wife ever had the gall to even hint at disapproving of me buying books, all I have to do is mention the word "shoes" and she will quietly shut up…

I'm single now by choice. But most relationships I've dated haven't been affected by D&D or the amount of money and time I spend on it (my favorite and main hobby).

That said, I do hide my books before I bring a new girl over. D&D is something that requires a little tact to admit to.
