Is everyone in Eberron white?

I couldn't find something saying one way or the other, but are there different ethnic groups of humans in Eberron? Maybe from continents other than Khorvaire? Or do we have to rely on Elves and Orcs to examine ethnic differences?

I highly doubt that, in an area as large as Khorvaire, there are no other ethnic groups. Perhaps subsequent books will go into more detail but, for now, I don't see why you can't make things about about certain areas. :)

IIRC, Keith touched on this and the answer was something along the lines of 100 years of war has made everything all mixed up. So there are fewer subgroups and it's basically a "play whatever you want" kind of deal.

Not every human in Eberron is white.

Why?

Because if everyone were one race of humans, and the only options for other races were orcs, elves, etc., the NAACP/ACLU and their cohorts would sue the britches off of WotC for publishing an obviously racist and discriminatory book.

That's why. Their lawyers would never let them commit financial suicide.

Wow... Can o' worms looks to be opened here. A question is asked about the diversity of Eberron and suddenly it's "affirmative action" this and "NAACP/ACLU" that.

Seems people have bigger issues with race than just what happens in a fantasy book. :(

Moderator's Notes
Obviously, this topic has the potential to turn political. Let's not let it: please avoid discussing real-life race issues in this thread, and keep it confined to issues in Eberron.

Get down off your high horse. My example was to make an observation with an absurdity. I think the whole issue of race entering fantasy is kind of silly. Don't we have enough problems in the real world?

And isn't that implied anyway? Since its fantasy the color of your skin in real life would have a tendency to dictate what kind of character you'd play in a fantasy game like Eberron. Leaving it open to personal interperetation is the best thing.

Is there anything explicitly stating the general racial/ethnical background of the "typical" Khorvairian? I can't recall the racial background of any of the example NPCs, so I don't see why they couldn't be Not-african, Not-asian, Not-european, or whatever Not-ethnicity one could want them to be.

This is one of those points that is easy to change, game by game.

One of my players, who happens to be black himself, always asks me, "Hey Wombat, can I play a bruthah?" The answer is "Of course you can."

Every game we play now definitely has multiple races, even amongst non-humans species.

Simple as that. Fiat.
