cause I gots to be difficult

look i think we are all interested in the rule changes and we want to see new things. but we are all a little upset over the fluff and re-imaging that seems to begin on.
I've got nothing agents dragonborn or tefling but i don't see them as being in every town and Hamlet let alone in ever party. we don't really need two types of elves and we like are gnomes and 1/2 orcs.

Well it's true that there are definetly more DMs here on Enworld. However I suspect a lot of the 4e apprehension lies with DMs uset how the rules will upset their campaigns and their games. Players (at least the ones I talk to seem more interested in playing x race, or y class, or z rule.

Mostly DM
Apprehensive about 4E, dedicated fence sitter for the moment.
I find I like many of the concepts of 4E.
It is usually the implementation that I find disturbing.

I play most often as a DM in a home campaign, though I do play a fair amount of Living Greyhawk, mostly as a player. In my home campaign, everybody seems excited about 4th edition, and are excited about getting their hands on the material and playing with it as soon as possible. Talking to other players at Living Greyhawk tables, I saw more apprehension, though many are also excited to see the new mechanics.

I play with a fair number of gamers to whom at least part of the attraction to a game is exploring the mechanics of it and building effective characters out of the options presented.
They often pass rulebooks around, looking for new feats or new combos. In my home campaign, almost all of them are playing classes from newer books, like PHB II, or Bo9S. I think they're excited about 4th edition, since it gives them so many new mechanics to discover and play with.

As a DM, I'd like to hear more about the quicker prep times promised in 4th, especially in building advanced monsters, which takes up a good amount of the time I have set away for preparing adventures. I have to say that as a player I'm also interested in trying out the new mechanics and reading about the changes to the game worlds.

I'm not that upset about the fluff changes since every campaign I've played in has changed parts of it already. My home campaign is set in Eberron, so there's all sorts of new races and stuff floating around. Living Greyhawk has 4-5 types of playable elves, and depending on which region you play in, certain classes or races are either discouraged or disproportionately common. So, changing the mix of classes and races is just more of the same to me.

I pretty much DM 99% of the time.

It's not that I like or dislike 4th Ed either way really... My basic view point is: if I have to buy into a new system and re-learn rules, I may as well just move to other game systems and learn those. I already have "D&D" covered.

Probably the only way I'd buy another set of D&D rules is if it was not d20 anymore but D&D 3. As in: Everything before 3rd Ed = D&D 1. 3rd, 3.5 Ed and now 4th Ed = D&D 2.
