Gro-nyar , with "ar" as in "far".

Yup. We Canadians - even the Anglo-Canadians - get this without much trouble.

But whenever you let an American near a word in the French language, it's pretty much a guaranteed *wince* moment, every time. :D

Mind you, I suppose my Spanish is not exactly up to par, either.

I say pronounce all the letters. It's an English word, though ported from French, so we are under no obligation to entertain tortuous, cagey French orthography.
