Is it possible for a Vampire and a Half Celestial to coexist?

It's the Odd Couple!

*ahem*

Anyway, like stated earlier, PCs do have an odd habit of casting away all barriers and being friends with anyone who will help their all-important Quest to Smite and Do Whatever Quests They Have To In Order to Create Opportunities to Smite. Y'know.

Just have the celestial be convinced the vampire can be changed to at least demi-good through subtle methods, and have the vampire not mind the rare conversion attempt. It'll work fine. And if it doesn't, it will be a funny, popular story in the group, eh? :D

Alucard and Trevor Belmont in Castlevania 3. If a Vampire hunter can co-op with the son of the vampire he is trying to kill i see no problem with a celestial traveling with a vampire under possibly a similar situation

That game rocked. Though Castlevania 2 was better.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it all turns out when we start playing.

Alcuard ROCKS!!! I love that game so much, I wish they would make him the star of another Castlevania game.

It depends upon their characters and their circumstances.

I played in a game where I was the only good character among many evil characters. It worked out fine because we were all mercenaries and I got them to fight evil groups. Evil has no problem fighting anybody for the right price, and I had no problem unleashing and redirecting evil upon other evil.

It was very tense, because though I was tough, I could easily have been overpowered by all the evil party members, but since I gave us direction, used a lot of actual bluffing and intimidation, and they got rewards for going my way, it worked out well.

Neither template nor alignment is necesarily obvious so it might start out ok and then develop into a feud later, but basically find out their character stories and motivations and then you should be able to judge if they can get along. Some DMs don't allow PC fighting in which case it could either work or the game will get scrapped over their differences. The DM should just be clear from the beginning if PC conflict is ok.

Hah. You'll have to post here to let us know how it goes in the first game.

The roleplayers in my group sometimes have enough trouble maintaining good reasons their characters would continue to travel together....even with similar alignments. I can't imagine what would make a vampire and a half-celestial want to work together.

Act of god DM-work I guess?

Well Spike (who was definitely evil) worked with buffy because of this ''chip" in his brain. So imply that a magic item he has picked up (can be anything) does the same for him... he can't kill good people but he can still kill evil people and things... and make the Celestial companion sorta like a divine punisment. Just imagine the wry remarks the vampire (think Spike here again) can give on all this goody two-shoes action :P
