Is it "wrong" to not like other systems?

Just curious - is it "wrong" to not particularly enjoy playing in non-D20 systems? I know there are players out there who don't particularly enjoy D20, and that makes some sense to me. It can't fill every aesthetic taste, and there are whole hosts of issues that can make someone prefer other systems, or swear off D20 entirely. I don't have a problem with that.

Yet, when I mention my "loyalty" to the system that very much fulfills my personal taste, and can simulate everything I want to simulate to the degree I want to simulate it (from D&D to D20 Modern to Mutants and Masterminds) I am occaisonally ridiculed, and often told I'm wrong, and need to branch out, or some similar admonishment for not particularly enjoying alternate RPG system X.

It's not that I haven't tried or read other RPG systems - in fact, I have done both a number of times. As an example, I have either read or played Star Trek (Original, and Next Generation), Marvel Super Heroes, Shadowrun (2nd and 3rd Editions), 1st Edition D&D, 2nd Edition D&D, Exalted, Adventure!, Godlike, Vampire, Werewolf, Changeling, Mage, Ars Magica, Feng Shui, D6 star wars, Alternity, GURPs, and Champions.

Before D20 came along, I was almost completely loyal to West End Game's D6 Star Wars system, even trying to shoehorn modern and high-fantasy games into the system.

After it did, I converted, because I found a system that I liked better. Is my dislike of those systems somehow qualititatively different than another player disliking D20? Have any of you had similar experiences?

Some people are just more intelligent than others and understand that no one system is overall better than anything else and that, in the end, it IS all personal taste.

Which can only be wrong in one case...diaglo :p

Your opinion is wrong!

Other games might not be your cup of tea. It's not a big deal.

I'm in a similar position; I've played tons of systems, and I even like lots of systems, but I'm not really looking to branch out beyond d20 anymore. The few things that I don't like about d20 are more than made up for by its many advantages, IMO.

Actually, there are systems that are better then other systems. Different systems do different things well so it is more then just personel taste, it is also mwhat game you want to play. Not all systems work for all games and genres.

But there is nothing wrong with just liking one system, or hating other systems.

But it is to some people. A *lot* of people.

Well then forget about them. Who cares what other people think? If we cared about these so called others, many of us would not be gaming.

Variety is the spice of life and I personally enjoy playing the games in my gaming repertoire. My preference for a system also varies in regard to whether I am refereeing or participating as a player character.

I love 3E D&D/d20, it's great for running D&D games.

I don't think it handles non fantasy stuff well, though. I just don't like having levels/classes in other genres. But I haven't played any non-fantasy games in awhile, so what do I know. :)
