Is Nyambe good?

So, here it is... I heard about this unusual D20 product, and I figured I could use it at least in parts for an Africa-like continent of a future campaign.... How it is? Is it easily convertible to current 3,5 rules, or at least rips ideas for D&D (I could keep fluff for 4ed also maybe)? Any other comments from you, players and DM?

I love Nyambe. It's full of really great ideas that can be readily plundered for all sorts of campaigns -- unique monsters and magic items, cool prestige classes and a very interesting way of representing gods and so on. Lots of fun.

I HIGHLY recommend picking up a copy.

It captures the feel of the Dark Continet very well. It can also be used side by side with Northern Crow, whaich is an Awesome Setting too.

What is this one? The 'europe' of this world?

Does Nyambe have a 'saharan/sahelian muslim kingdoms' area, and is it possible to do one with Nyambe stuff? I have an idea for a sultanate based on the great western empires perhaps also.

Northern Crown is colonial North America. There were plans for Europa, IIRC, though it never materialized. I have planned to use Ptolus, WLC, or Freeport for Europa's iconic city in the past, though gameplay never materialized.

It's 3.0 but I don't think that's a major stumbling block. It was released as a single HC book and at least two adventures, plus some web updates/articles.

I really regret not having gotten to run Nyambe, and now that I have Hamunaptra, am going to see if it might be possible to blend the two...

Unless there is an updated version I don't know about, Nyambe is 3.0. The main book contains all you really need, though there is at least one other release (Ancestral Vault). They're a nice couple of books.

There's quote a bit of free support for the books at http://www.nyambe.com - in particular the 100 page Player's Lorebook. The site seems dormant these days but the material is still all there.
