I don't see a "the only good druid's a dead druid" option on the poll. . . .

Is it mechanically superior? I'll wait until I see the sidebar rules for animal companions (the fact that they were still ANIMALS and wouldn't necessarily do whatever the druid wanted was the only thing that made those stupid dire apes and tigers, etc endurable as a DM). It could well be mechanically a superior and more balanced class. . . but I still don't like it.

I like it better, but I still don't like the armor restriction. I want chainmail wearing longsword wielding barbarian/druids. Maybe I'll just make a feat...

I wouldn't say it is the best, but it is much improved.

But I do wonder: What if a shapeshifter like a doppelganger wishes to be a druid? Will Wild Shape be a useless ability for such a creature?

A Doppleganger's Alter Self allows for Small and Medium-sized humanoids, IIANM, whereas Wild Shape is for animal forms.

Gee, slant polls much?

I definitely think there are some improvements (animal companions and spontaneous casting, weapon restrictions), but I wonder if it got too much.

I decline to vote. I think the 3.5 Druid is a bit of an improvement, but not significantly better (more powerful does not mean better) over all.

So, my view is essentially a break-even, which isn't on the poll.
