Is the Wealth bonus working?

Pierce I can't give you the Page # but buying used "stuff" is in the book, can't remember what the exact rules are thru.
Subtract 1 from the Purchase DC. The DC to repair the item if it breaks increases by 4.

Like I said, useless. If you can't afford a car at DC 28, you probably can't afford DC 27, either. And it's amazingly unrealistic, at least as far as used cars are concerned.

Just how often do you make Profession checks , once a month or after a rise in level ?
We PCs make Profession checks whenever we level. I was pointing out that NPCs don't necessarily follow the same rules. If it's necessary for an NPC to increase their wealth score and they must do it randomly, then the GM might choose to determine some set recurring time period after which the NPC may make a Profession check to increase their Wealth, just as a PC does. However, the GM normally has muuuuuch more important and interesting stuff to do than manage an NPCs Wealth. My final suggestion stands: give the NPC whatever is befitting their status and/or whatever they need to keep the story going. That's the whole point of the abstracted Wealth system. If you'd prefer a more realistic system, go ahead and track dollars and cents.

Just to note: the Modern Player's Companion Volume 2 from Game Mechanics has variant wealth rules, including rules for credit ratings. Not my cup o' joe, but others might find it interesting. The rest of the book (and Volume 1, for that matter) is good stuff, though. Recommended.

Agreed. It's damn near impossible for a 1st level character to have both a car and a gun. This way, you can at least have SOME kind of transportation. Plus, it gets interesting when you only have a 50% shot of starting up your stalled truck as the 5:15 Local is bearing down on it...

We haven't altered the repair rules as yet - it's pretty damn expensive to get a car fixed as it is. In fact, the repair DC can outstrip the purchase DC pretty quick - time to put that heap on cinder blocks and start a'fresh!!
