Is there a Jester NPC class?

Not that I'd ever play one, but has anyone ever written out a class whose sole purpose is to provide mirth? I guess a Bard without fighter/rogue/spell abilities or something.

Arthurian Adventures: Legends of Excalibur, by RPGObjects, has a core class called the Fool. Their witty banter gives them a chr bonus to AC. And they have wit abilities to befuddle opponents, and to make opponents attack them before all other characters (!). They can also dance a jig to haste their allies.

So kind of a dark, insult-based sense of humor, but pretty close, eh?

The Expert NPC class is very adaptable. Just choose class skills like several Performs, maybe a Craft (Puppet or Prop), some Bluff, Diplomacy, and Tumble to be sure. A high Dex and Cha, low Str and Con. And if he is to survie a decent Wis for Sense Motive, to know when to stop.

I, too, have written up a prc called 'the Jester' (go figure :o ). Mine has spells however (such as Phlegmatic Spray, Slapstick, etc).
LoL! No, you DO NOT have a spell called "Slapstick"! LoL

ROTFLMAO

What, you cast it on your enemies and for the next few rounds equal to your level they start hitting each other "Three Stooges" style? Nose tweaks and all? LoL

the Jester was a PC class in The Dragon iirc.

i might be confusing it with Da Jock... but it was in the same issue as the original Cavalier submission

I converted the Jester from The Dragon (from way, way back) and posted it on my website (before my host had server probz and lost most of the stuff there)...I still have the files somewhere and I'll post 'em tonite (and reply back to this thread again with a link).

Sure, that'd be cool!

Somebody has to have created the "Cream Pie" spell especially for the Jester. Something where he can pull a cream pie from out of the air and throw it into someone's face. That'd rock. He'd have to be a good runner, but it'd still rock. LoL

All right, since you asked...

SLAPSTICK
Abjuration
Level: Jester 3
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Personal
Target: You
Duration: 10 minutes/level

While slapstick lasts, the first 3 points of any slashing or piercing attacks and the first 6 points of any bludgeoning attacks are treated as nonlethal damage.

Material component: a bit of rubber.

Actually, though, this is probably the single funniest jester spell imo:

OOPS, SORRY
Enchantment (Compulsion) [Mind-Affecting]
Level: Jest 3
Components: V, S
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Personal (see text)
Effect: See text
Duration: Permanent
Saving Throw: Will negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

This spell allows you to avoid an encounter that has just begun. If cast within one round of the beginning of an encounter, you simply say, “Oops- sorry!”, back out of the encountered creatures’ view, and if they fail saving throws they forget all about you. This spell could conceivably affect any number of enemies. You cannot cast oops, sorry if you have already attacked.
