Is there a problem with the forums

The last two weeks, forum pages have reloaded really slowly, sometimes not at all. Oftentimes I get error messages saying a page can't be found. I try again a second later and it works.

Is something going on?

The servers have been slow for a while, they shut them down every now and then to help with it.

If you click on the link in my sig (or check out the sticky thread at the top of this forum) you'll see what I'm doing about the problem.

On the software side, some experimental work is scheduled for tonight. The plan is to see if the number of database driven sites on the server can be reduced from 5+ to just 2. That should make a difference.

The hardware upgrade is still pending. More updates as and when I have them.
