Is there a way to paste formatting directly into a post?

What I'd like to do is paste large blocks of text from Microsoft Word 2007 files directly into a series of posts on the Story Hour forum. When I do so, all of the formatting, like bold and italics and such, is lost. I know that I could go through and manually re-do all of that in the post editor, but I'd really love to not have to, if there's some other way.

Is there some feature of the site, or of MS Word, or some other third-party application that I could run the text through, that would automatically preserve formatting, or add appropriate html codes, or something?

You might be able to find a conversion tool online if you search.

A quick search came up with this Word macro:
