Is there any interest in Gamma World?

METAMORPHOSIS ALPHA

For the GAMMA WORLD fans who don't know it, I'll say it again: METAMORPHOSIS ALPHA was the progenator of the GM game, and IMO it was a lot more fun.

Well, Jim Ward just sent me the draft of the MA game rules this morning, and I've scanned them. The game will be available around the middle of April, and it looks great!

Jim has explained not only the layout of the "Starship Warden," the environment for the game, but also done a bang-up job of revising and laying out the MA rules for quick and easy comprehension.

For those who never had a chance to play MA but liked GAMMA WORLD, give this one a close look. I really like MA, but tastes vary.
MA is a more intense environment that was provided by GW, and of course the rules and information can be transferred to a world setting if desired.

I'm checking with the Good Sir James not as to what support is planned. I am also thinking strongly of what sort of colony ship I want to set up for my MA game campaign

Gamma World would be fun. I will have to check out Metamorphosis Alpha.

Gary, it may amuse you and Jim Ward to know that I set my first Gamma World adventure back in 1983 in the ruins of TSR's Lake Geneva's headquarters. The sole PC saw a Restorationist Sleeth lizard trying to puzzle out 20 sided dice.:D

Oooh! Oooh! Man, I TOTALLY dig Gamma World.

I'm currently working on writing up a campaign setting based on my old home town in Maine. The cool thing about it is that Windham is around thirty miles inland from Portland. Take the various Gamma World maps of the United States, and with just a little bit of tweaking, it's suddenly a coastal town. :)

This is just wrong. I love the Vacated Land reference. V. funny.

New England-flavored Gamma World. :)

Corporate Dog

I'm in Dixfield, ME. The only nasty things I've ever set here were a game of Call of Cthulhu that began in Portland, and a game of All Flesh must be Eaten, where myself and all my friends eventually got tacnuked by the United States in response to the zombie incursion.

But Gamma World? That would be kooky.

Jim's company, Fast Forward Entertainment, will be releasing the first of the two-part rule book in May, I believe. The rules therein will cover play as a Pure Strain Human, Anderoid, or Robot character. The subsequent part will cover play with Mutant Human and other Mutant characters.

They should come out with the Mutants first.. that was always the best part of GW. I love the randomness of rolling mutations.

Is this game d20? or its own rules system?

d20 modern weapons

<bump>

I know the "d20 Modern" is coming out late this year, but has anyone converted modern weapons to d20 system?

I'm looking for modern/near future guns & rifles, grenades/bombs etc...

Also on a side note for those interested, I will be creating my Gamma World d20 website soon. I'll post a link here when it's up.

Gary,

Thank you for the info on Metamorphosis Alpha! I will definitely be checking out that old/new treasure.

ANy chance of enticing Jim here for some extra details from the master's mouth?

Heh, and at ;east the penalty for failing to discover the arcane mystery would not be something that brought severe damage to the character  I recall play-testing the flow chart Jim did for the MA game. That mutant human PC had a very shgort life span...bley off an arm as it were.

Anyway, do give METAMORPHOSIS ALPHA a careful look. It is IMO a far better rules system for wierd science/sicence fantasy SF genre pay than can be achieved using the D20 base. Of course it can be used with a colony ship enviironment, that of a space station, alien world settings, or a post-apocalyptic earth--and combinations thereof too. The system will be supported too with an estimated four new prducts coming out each year.

Ciao,
Gary

Hey, I've always liked MA - it's a great premise. And now with Jim Ward back in the saddle, it can only get better.

On another note, I don't think we've seen enough d20 games of this ilk to determine if it'd be a good system for such games.
