Is there anything cooler than a character sheet printed on crinkly, yellow parchment?

Someone, as I recall, in the early days of D&D3, did a version of the original D&D character sheet with the cloth boot for speed and the shield for AC. I loved that. Didn't save it, though, and couldn't ever find it again.

Fear not, I think I can help you. :D

1. Go here: http://www.rpgsheets.com/
2. Search for the term "old school"
3. You'll see a link to "Mad Irishman's Old School 3e Char Sheet 1.61"
4. There's a version done for 3.5 called Mad Irishman's D&D Character Sheet 2.2, *corrected* Old School version

A quick rummage around his website didn't turn these up, so either he's moved on/retired them, or perhaps I just missed 'em. You can see many of his other creations at his site here: http://www.unc.edu/~murphy/mad_irishman/

rpgsheets is a pretty groovy website.

I had a player tell us he had to make a new character sheet because he had accidently set fire to his old one....
His sheet had gotten wet, and he put it in the microwave?!? to dry it, and it caught fire, but only where the graphite had gotten really ground in -
ie hp and xp areas. by this time the PC was a Barb1/ranger7 who had been played for 5 levels, over 4 months.
He was berated by the table for not staying with the burned sheet.

I've got to give some props to Mad Irishman as well. He's got various old school sheets. One of my faves is one for C&C that's done in the same style as the REF2 character sheets from 2e (which I cut my teeth on). This is nice, as I now have the best of all worlds. :)

Mad Irishman did a "First Edition Feel" character sheet for us a while back. It includes the boot, shield, sword + hand (for weapon in hand), and so on. It even has the WILL on the back bottom of the sheet...just like the originals :)

Here's the direct link to it:

and here's a link to the free stuff page where you can find it as well as another version of it (with the abilities arranged in the original 1E order on the sheet)

In my recent classic D&D campaign, at least one player said that the old character sheet really helped him get into the game. & all the players choose to use the classic character sheets.

When I play 3e, I often use the Dungeon Crawl Classics classic-style 3e sheet.

Well, no .... not cool but that is because I have character sheets so old that they are starting to yellow. Not the same thing in the OP but yellow characters sheets reminds me that I need a use a better quality of paper.
