Whether you wife will enjoy such a plot I cannot comment on. But I would worry about the other players' perception of the plot as a manifestation of "GM's girlfriend" syndrome. Her player gets a bunch of perks the other players don't. Until they find out she'd have to retire, these feelings are possible. Just something to look out for.
