Is this worth my while?

Would you be interested in a OSIRC/SRD Merged Ruleset?

I'm always interested in experimentation about the rules, so I've voted yes.

However, I'm unclear about your proposal. Could you explain it better? What would you include from OSRIC and from the SRD? What are your design goals?

Honestly, I'd have to start doing the work before I could answer this.....and I'm trying to decide whether or not to start!

I don't think you can ask, "Should I start on an unspecified creative exercise?" and expect to get a useful answer... I think you should decide specifically what you want to do before you have an intelligible question to ask in the first place.

Exactly... :)

P&P will have to correct me if I am wrong, but as I read the OSRIC license it is not exactly an "SRD" in the way the other documents are. Only certain parts are OGC.

An SRD can be used word for word, but OSRIC has only certain parts that can be used word for word. The original language in OSRIC is protected and can only be directly copied in short quotes. Am I wrong in this interpretation?

In this light, I don't think you can simply marry the two without rewriting the 1e algorithms. The OSRIC license does not extend to complete games either, right?

Now P&P is entirely in control of his work, so he can tell you what's up and what he allows, etc. This is just my interpretation of the license. I am no lawyer.

Not trying to discourage you from your concept, I'm just saying it will be a bit more work.

Just read the license. Good catch. The point may well be moot.
