Is WotC announcing a new setting at GenCon?

A new Setting query?

They announced Dark Sun last year, is there going to be a new setting announced?

Could it be Nerath since it is listed or has been used as an example since Keep on the shadowfell and the dmg1?

Has anyone seen anything to link it to either Faerun or Eberron?

It could be their point of light example IS the new campaign setting for next year sort of a 4e variant of Mystara without having to credit it as that.

Since it's clear they're moving away from the PHBx, MMx, DMGx every year plan and Dark Sun diverged from the original Player's Guide / Campaign Guide / Adventure model for a setting, I wouldn't be too surprised if they're not doing a new setting for 2011.

There is a lot (ALOT) of plane hopping built into the recent monster manual type books. Maybe that is building towards something.

The Plane Above has an entire section about how to navigate the region between planes and the required vehicles.

Some sort of Planescape/Spelljammer book might be coming.

I am anxiously awaiting the 4e Oriental Adventures.
That will be (could be) really awesome.
I loved the 3e OA.

I would like to see oriental adventures, but mroe along the 2E lines.

The original OA was actually a 1e AD&D supplement (really the first hardback supplement aside from Fiend Folio). There never was a 2e version, though realistically it was easy enough to use OA with 2e. I'd definitely be really interested in it anyway, OA was a fun setting/supplement though it never did QUITE fit in really smoothly with some of the play concepts of AD&D.

James Wyatt apparently confirmed via Twitter (and at GenCon) that there would be another FR sourcebook in 2011. Since today wasn't the "unveiling day", for now we can only speculate what he meant when he said, "...just wait until you see what we reveal tomorrow!" (Or somethign similar.)

I'm hoping for Planescape.

However, I'd be happy with any of these settings: Greyhawk, Mystara, or Spelljammer.

It is almost assumed that there will be a Forgotten Realms book or maybe two per year. The Realms have a strong fan base and if they can incorporate a new class such as the swordmage then sales will be great.

Eberron will suffer. Maybe it will get some support, but mostly I expect novels and maybe a source book.

Dark Sun and Planescape are firmly entrenched into DnD. 3e really missed out when they skipped out on Dark Sun.

Still, James Wyatt really showed his value when Oriental Adventures 3e came out. If you valued the 1e version of OA (which was greatness), then you can appreciate the added value. The Ninja Handbook of 2e was the best splatbook from that extensive list of splats for 2e.

Rokugan and Kara Tur never held my interest, but I do not have as firm a grounding in Asian Myth as compared to Europe. OD&D relied upon 'Lord of the Rings'. WotC would be better off starting from scratch in my opinion.

They should develop OA and release their own culture/setting for it to be based upon. George Lucas had Jedi. DnD just needs something similar that it can call its own.
