Correct me if I am wrong, but has not such a concept already been used in several horror stories predating the Vampire:the Masquerade game?

As has been pointed out, by many decades. The ghoulish vampire servant is a staple of the vampire tale. It has also been hinted at in connection with werewolves in at least one book: Whitley Strieber's The Wolfen.
