On the other hand, once when I was a player, I had a DM who straight-out told us he considered the game a chess match between him and his players and would have probably had us roll to avoid getting killed by falling branches while walking through the forest if I hadn't preemptively mentioned that I walked through the entire forest with my shield held over my head to avoid being killed by falling branches because I knew he'd probably try it, lolol.
I once had a lightsaber, and the DM literally had me roll to see if I tripped going up some stairs. I fumbled and killed another player with the saber.

I did not come back next session.

My issue is that I solo RPG a LOT! And when I roll as the GM, well the rolls and moves the enemies do are particularly fantastic... however, on the PC side, it's dull and the rolls are naturally terrible! I'm out to get myself! hahaha ;)

I am never out to get you.

But I do get riled up when my boss monster misses 3 rounds in a row. Let me do my flashy stuff!

Also, all my monsters are homebrew. Yes, they look and act like familiar monsters, but under the hood? They are tailored to whatever I need the monster to do to challenge you.
