So, you are PCing in your weekly/monthy game. The DM make a rules ruling that you are not familiar with. Do you challenge the DM or do you trust that he's right?

We are ignoring the type of ruling or if it will disrupt a game. And yes, I'm doing this black and white. :D

I hate myself. Must... Confirm.... Ruling.

Normally lately I DM, but when I play, I hate not being able to get specific, precise Information on a rule 51% of the time. In a black and white poll, it is the only way I can vote.

I know the rules a bit better than my GM, so when he says something that doesn't feel 'right,' I say so, and look it up. I'm usually correct. :)

I simply accept whatever my DM decides. I just don't see the point in endless debates about rules.

On the other hand, I am pretty strict when it comes to rules at my table when I DM. I expect the same acceptance from my players that I give to my DM- even though I tend to look up debatable rules after the session so that I can change it the next time, in case the players were right and I was wrong.

I just found that it makes the game much smoother if everyone just accepts the DM's authority.

The DM is the final arbiter on the rules.

The group of people I play with are more interested in telling a story together than in fussing over technicalities, so this isn't really an issue for us. When I DM, I make the calls. When someone else DMs, they do. I get the impression though, that we seem to be a whole lot more relaxed than most gaming groups.

I voted for "whatever he says goes"... but I'm the GM. So there may be some bias there ;).

Seriously, though, it depends. If we're doing by-the-book tactical miniatures, I prefer to be called on a strange ruling (in fact, I rely on my players for that). If we're in the middle of a deep narrative, I send the rules packing.

Im the DM. My rule stands. If a rule is into conflict I rule on that and then ask the opinions of my fellow online folk re:ENWorld. Then i send what i found back to the group and then we go forth on the ruling.

Military justice on the table followed up by public debate follwed up with a democratic amendment..ahhh the use of gov't in D&D table politics..

Definite bias, 'cause I'm normally the DM, but... what the DM says, goes. If you don't like it, complain after - but don't hold up the game over it.

I usually try to flip through the book to check it. If the actual rules are ambiguous, then I'll usually go with the DM's interpretation.

However, if there's a trend of rulings favoring a DM's pet character, then I'm likely to call him on it.
