I <3 my group.

It's taken me years to build this group. I play online (first through OPenRPG and now Maptool) and I've played with so frigging many unbelievable wingnuts. OMG. Over the past seven years I have literally played with over a hundred players. I treasure my current bunch. They are great.

Under ordinary circumstances I would ticky "No group is perfect, but...", but currently the Powers That Be have decided to dump on my group, we we are dealing with a divorce, a bankruptcy, a dying mother, and some problems finding jobs.

So currently my group is in the middle of a meltdown; we are all just trying to support each other and take our game as venting and therapy sessions...

I am running a M&M Golden Age game that is the best campaign in the history of RPGs. I, as DM, contribute only a tiny portion to that awesomeness. Therefore, I chose Perfect and you can't have them!

PS

Yup. Because they are all good friends and everyone has fun. Do we always get a lot done in each session? No. But that doesn't matter.

We roll dice, kill stuff, take its stuff, shoot the sh*t, drink beer, eat snacks, and Wulf grills awesome hot wings.

Oh, the projector map setup doesn't hurt either.

I'd say we're close. Perfection fails due to one guy who can tend to get on each other's nerves too often... But otherwise, we're pretty solid. From getting along as friends, to showing up for 90% of our sessions, I wouldn't trade them for other players.

Pretty darned perfect. I think there is one mismatch where a player would like it if I delved into higher level play more often, but I just don't do well at those dizzying heights. I'm trying to compensate by offering bonus feats along with my much slower leveling. But ultimately -- everyone is fun, funny, willing to jump on board no matter what the story is, and willing to let me call the rules-related shots as needed. Big thumbs up.

In style and preferences, my group is pretty spot on.

In size... I could really use one more, but finding a match is really hard.

In terms of getting together on a regular schedule... eh, they aren't so good for that.

I have 15 players (in 3 different campaigns I run, same world though) and, yes, they're perfect and you can't have them.

I will qualify that they are perfect because they are all close friends and nothing beats gaming with friends.

As a DM, do you feel like you have the perfect group for your style, preferences, etc? Maybe you would swap one or more out for someone else you know if not for the problems that might cause?

My group is a good group in that we have staying power and committment. My guys don't flake, 11:30 start time means 11:30 start time, and we get in good amounts of gaming every two weeks and have been regularly gaming here for the past 10 years or so (since 3.0).

The problems with my group though is that should they argue, it becomes a real pissing contest that devolves into a "Did not", "Did too" about rules and such. These guys just don't see other's point of view. A few times it's funny, but it can be really annoying at times. It does hold up the game though it's never gotten to the point that anyone quits or the game is derailed.

Another problem is one of my players is getting up there in his age, so his ability to pay attention is waning. In the home campaign it's not too much of a hassle for the other players, but we all really hated in RPGA games because it would seriously screw us up.
