I also see continuously functioning themed boots, belts, bracers, amulets, hats, gloves, robes, and cloaks as a little more common (as a group) than rings.

Hey, I'm just goin' by what the DMG says about rings. Also, keep in mind that a ring is the hardest item to sunder. Nobody ever thinks about that. Guess you guys never attempt to destroy your player's magic items, or have your own magic items hacked apart with a sword.
