Item Creation question (price this)

I think thats a fair price. Its a great low level magic item. As the group gets higher in level the usefulness of the item decreases. High level characters are not going find an item that only heals 3d8+3 points of damage once per day (effectivily) of very much use. Most creatures that high will hit for higher than that.

Sounds too cheap to me. Healing in a nonexpendable item is very expensive.

I'd go with about 3000

Because, as I said it sounds too cheap to me and in the game healing items are more expensive than this.

Ask yourself does 15 times a day for 5,400 sound cheap? Average 75 hp a day with no attack of opportunity?

1k for 3x a day no charges screams munchkin.

Where are getting 15 times a day from?

Extrapolation. If 3per day costs 1080, then 15 per day will cost 5400.

I agree with those who feel its too cheap. I would probably say 3,000gp as well. If you want a specific reason, the only one I have to give is: "because my gut tells me so, and I'm the DM."

Having played in a party that had three of these things running around. (It was my second magic item made with CWI). The sum total net effect is it saves the party from making a stop at the local apothecary every time they go into town. They'll still buy potions of CLW, they just wont be carrying around 5+ each. After 5th level or so the Amulets became more-or-less stop-gap 'stabilization' devices that allowed nearly dead characters to get up and run away.

But obviously totally ridiculous since an unlimited use version would cost 1800 gp.

Going strictly by the formula, yes. However, that IMO would be incredibly silly for a DM to allow. A use activated CLW item means that no spells will need to be expended after a fight in order to heal HP damage. The only time you'd have to expend spells is when another fight is imminent. Grated, that does happen, but ir isn't all the time.

If you figure wand charges go for 15 each and 50 uses are the price of a permanent charge then 3/day would cost as much as 3 wands or 2250 gc. The wands are probably more useful as you have 150 charges usable anytime which is better than 3 uses when you don't need them and only 3 when you want 20 or so. The advantage is anyone can use the 3 spells.
