Theres one that already does just that, The Sparring Dummy in the equipment guide. Its only for monks though and requires 'training time' to get it powers, but then they're permanent.

You could just toy with it a little and you've already got a reasonable price guide.

I can see this being pretty useful in _every_ battle.

Is there an other class or situation where you get a double 5' step?

Do you have a rationale? After all the 5' step isn't a direct reflection of your character speed its more of a compromise to make the combat rules work. I think that even hasted you move further but then only have a 5' step for positioning and such.

I can see this being much more expensive than simple building cost - perhaps about as much as a ring of invisibility 20k.

Oh, I think it would be a very expensive item- I am considering putting a pair on an epic npc.

My first, gut feeling was actually to price these at around 100K.

even colossal creatures only get a 5' step...

and yes it should be worth a bundle
note: its abuses are even greater if it allows two 5' steps

Sorry, I can't remember the price for the dummy, and as ive said before my books are never availlible while im online (posiblely changeing when I might get broadband at home).

I might just write it down for you, but...I might not...hard to explain why. :(
Anyone else got the book? :\

Ahhh, don't have the A&EG... what's the price on the training dummy?

Sparring Dummy of the Master
- Works like the tomes and manuals of the DMG: You need to train 8 hours a day for four weeks to gain the benefit (and if training is interrupted for 24 hours or more you can never gain the benefit).
- You need at least one level in monk to make it work
- After all that, whenever you can make a 5ft step - you get a 10ft one instead

Price: 30,000gp

Which seems to be a little cheap perhaps, but then it is being brought to you by the Arms & Equipment Guide - the same people who decided 60 ft. blindsense was worth 9,000gp (Blindfold of True Darkness).
