D&D 3E/3.5 Iterative Sunder (3.5)

Suppose you use your primary attack to Sunder and the defender wins the opposed roll. Then you use your iterative attack to try another Sunder.

Is your attack roll at -5 compared to the first?

Is the defender's?

Here is all the SRD says on the matter:
Step 2: Opposed Rolls. You and the defender make opposed attack rolls with your respective weapons. The wielder of a two-handed weapon on a sunder attempt gets a +4 bonus on this roll, and the wielder of a light weapon takes a –4 penalty. If the combatants are of different sizes, the larger combatant gets a bonus on the attack roll of +4 per difference in size category.

I believe that the attacker takes the iterative attack penalty, but the defender gets to use their full attack bonus (unless they are using power attack, expertise, etc...)

However, what about the opposed strength check for a trip attack? Does that take any penalty, or is it just the initial touch attack that takes the iterative penalty?

Right.

The opposed Str check does not take the iterative attack penalty, but the initial touch attack does.

Of course, according to the Table of Action Types, Sunder is a standard action, and doesn't have the footnote allowing it to be used multiple times in a Full Attack action ;)
