Its only playable if it looks human

Culture is important, but for me just as long as it's not a Human/Demi-human.

I am a human. And I've had my fill of demi-humans. And quite frankly the only reason why I'd play a human is for the mechanical benefit.

If I can sit down at a table for four hours per week and pretend to be a wizard throwing gouts of flame, or a mighty warrior beheading dragons, then it's not much of a stretch to do so while being something that doesn't resemble me.

To steal an idea from a great writer, D&D races are based on the balloon animal syndrome: Snake? - weiner dog without legs. Giraffe? - weiner dog with a long neck. Lion? - weiner dog with a frilly collar ...
