It's time WotC fill us in on their digital initiative

Umm, it's been a day. One day since they announced the license will not be renewed.

Granted, Paizo has known for a couple of months already, so it's not like it was a surprise to them - and at least now we know why the Dungeon pdf's have been so late. They've been spending lots of time getting this Pathfinder thing ready for the announcement.

Maybe, just a thought, they realize that Dragon and Dungeon readers are actually a pretty small segment of their market and know that it's not a big deal to most people that the mags are ending. Thus, they can, y'know, wait more than 24 hours to make a proper announcement. Perhaps on Monday when people are actually back at work.

Just a thought.

Feel free to continue to ready the torches. :)

Hussar,

I'm letting the other guys do the torching for me.

Matt,

And yet they still decide it's better to not say anything...yeah that's way better. Let's see if that would work for the US postal service.

It has been a day since WotC put out a lack luster press release. Both Paizo and WotC have known about this for months. Paizo put together a real press release and follow up commentary with real information. WotC put out a collection of reminiscences and a vague threat of a plan. I realize that the subscribers to Dungeon and Dragon are not important to WotC since they are such a small statistic. Thankfully, Paizo is willing to take care of them.
Hopefully, they will release some more info on Monday because right now they got spanked by a spin off.

Well, of course Paizo put together a real press release. The loss of the license is a huge blow to Paizo. This could really, really hurt the company - go out of business kind of hurt. Never mind the howling that would have come from subscribers like me who had about 11 more issues coming after September. If they hadn't had their cards ready, they would have been sunk.

For WOTC, they actually aren't losing anything. They don't owe anyone any money. Other than the licensing fees, they aren't out any money. It just doesn't really register on their radar as much as it does to Paizo.

I know people want to make a big deal out of this and I know that feelings are running very, very high, but this is ridiculous. Good grief, it's Sunday. They made a press release on Friday. Come Monday, possibly Tuesday, we'll likely see more information. It's not like this has to be done overnight. They've got until September before Paizo stops producing. Actually, closer to July, I believe, which is when the September issue goes out.

I'm fairly content to wait and see and leave the rabid speculation up to others.
