iTunes for Windows...NOW AVAILABLE!!

Am I seeing double or are you on the maccentral forums also...?

Be nice to know I am not the only who reuses there screen name.
:D Yep, that's me! I reuse this screenname on several forums, though lately I'm starting to do new names for different forums (like I did with Nutkinland).

I only have a couple minor problems with iTunes for Windows, though I suspect they may be related to my company firewall.

I created the name Aeolius back in 1985, for AppleLink:PE (which later became AOL). I use the same name everywhere I go (though someone at Yahoo Groups beat me to it). So, if you see Aeolius here, on the WotC boards, at MacCentral, or on iChat, it's me. :)

Have you tried iChat AV? I've tested it out on myself, but I don't know anyone with iChat AV and a digital camcorder!

I'll have to keep an eye out for you on the other forums. I'm also on the WotC forum with this username, though I don't go there much anymore.

Yep. I had an iBot webcam and got an iSight when they came out. I also recommend the EvoCam app, for putting images on the web. Sometimes I hook the iBot up to my son's iBook, which is hooked up an Airport wireless network.

I downloaded iTunes for Windows today... and bought one song to test things out. Very cool. Now I can use iTunes at home and work! :)

It's really cool but doesn't run very fast on my 800mhz AMD Athlon based system. It's not as responsive as something like eMule or Winamp, or even Windows Media Player. Guess I shouldn't expect tip-top performance from a program designed for a Mac (same goes for Quicktime, I like using it will never be as fast or resource-savvy as BSPlayer, etc)

I guess if you're interested in buying songs for $.99 then download it. Even if you aren't interested in buying songs, might as well download it if you drink Pepsi, since they have that promotion coming up where you look under the bottle cap and can win free song downloads (pretty cool!)

In other news: Winamp 5 beta was released publically today, and it's tight! Lovely new skin, check it out. You can get it at www.betanews.com

Hmmm... I haven't noticed any significant difference in performance... then again I'm on a 2Ghz P4-M. I do, however, agree that Winamp is sweet.

I'm on a 1.1 GHz HP Pavilion at work. iTunes runs just as fast as the other players on my machine. I think it's just a user-by-user experience, like any program. For some, it's faster, some it's slower, and some can't tell a difference (like me).

But from a usability standpoint, I like iTunes much better. Personal preference, though. :)

Can someone test something for me? I put an iTunes link ("Aeo's iTunes Pick of the Week") on my campaign's home page, http://www.lobi.com/bpaa/ . In theory, if you have iTunes installed, the link will open iTunes and browse the Music Store for the selection I picked. If you do not have iTunes installed, it should direct you to a link where you can download iTunes.

(I've been testing the iTunes Link Maker)

Took me right to the Desert Vision album in the Music Store. Good work! Although the web page did ask to install an iTunes-related program, which I declined. Some people may be annoyed by that. But the link works perfectly.
