Not sure. I've never broken one apart before. Guess I'm kinda assuming that OE will reassemble it for you - it was responsible for taking it apart...

Anyone else know about this stuff???

PCGen 2.6.7

I have not been able to get PCGen 2.6.7 or 2.6.6 to work, they appear very slow and hang if I attempt to load any character file but codemonkey, (and it gives me an error message about no longer being proficient with a sling for him!). I assumed that it was a change in format of the character file, but if I try to create a new spycraft character it hangs when I try to input the class, I can move to a different tab, (i.e. inventory), but when I return to the class section it will have added the class I required, (i.e. wheelman) but will not allow me to input the feats he has earned.

I have updated to the JAVA standard edition developers package which has JRE 1.4 bundled in.
If I reload PCGen 2.6.5 then the program works perfectly, but If I update it then it freaks out as above, has anyone got any suggestions.
I have even reinstalled my operating system (Win98) , because I thought it was overdue for it's biAnnual nuking, with no disernable effect.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Are you installing the new version directly over the old one? That never worked for me either.

Just copy the files for your characters out of the \characters directory and grab any other custom files you have in the system, move all of these files out of the main directory. Then delete the entire directory contents and extract the new files into the same directory. Move the characters and custom info files back into place and you should be good to go.

There may be an extra step in here that is not required, but this is the method I have found to work on my Win 98 system.

Good luck!

PCGen 2.6.7 problems

I am fairly sure I tried that, but I will cross the eyes and dot the tees :D and try that from scratch. There is nothing worse than discovering the solution is somthing you THOUGHT you had tried right at the beginning. I will get back to you if it works!

thanks for the reply

upgrading over an old copy is bad...always good to copy the software to a NEW dir and then mess with it there..mixing the old files does cause allot of headaches..
