John Titor?

First Post
This may be old, but it's new to me, so I thought I'd post it up.

This guy claimed to be from the future and posted on a few boards back in 2000-2001. Interesting read IMO.

I personally don't buy it, because we all know the world will end in 2012. ;)

Wow. Weird. It's news to me, but only because I didn't care about any boards or anything like that in 2000-2001. Personally, I think it's a load of crap [Oh God, I almost wrote I HAVE a load...], but I guess there's nothing I can do to prove it either way.

I remember hearing about him. I always thought it was a neat story.

... And, hey, I'm a time traveller to! I only go towards the future, at a rate of one second per second.

Hmmmm....my magic 8-ball says..."He's whack."

So, there you have it. John Titor is not the real thing.
[sblock]You have an 8-ball with the word 'whack' in it?

That must have been some limited edition ball released in the late 80s.

I wonder if they made one that says wiggy-wiggy-whack?[/sblock]

It's obviously not true, IMO, but it's interesting...especially regarding the things that he predicted correctly. The Z machine, the earthquake in Peru.

I am struck by the idea that it would be awesome to fabricate 'historical' records of a man giving these predictions, thus creating a false case for time travel. Just create a website that documents some comments made by a guy online a few years ago (which, obviously, most people never heard about because it was so silly at the time), and have your buddies pose as people who do remember reading this guy's predictions. People reading the stuff now, having no knowledge about the situation except for what you have told them, might just begin to believe the lie that someone actually did make these predictions a few years ago, when in truth you just created them recently.

It's very easy to look back and see a pattern in prophecy, especially when you go out of your way to ignore the wrong stuff. How about that civil war that started in 2004 in the US?

He didn't really predict anything about the Z machine, since it was around (or planned) before he said anything about it.

And Peru has earthquakes all the time.

If you are from the future, all you have to do is give the winners of some major sporting events as proof.

Actually, it's from the future.
