I started the PopCultureCrap group out of boredom two years ago - I was tired of all the off-topic chatter on other groups I moderate or belong to and I thought it would help reduce it. I thought it would be a neat idea just have somewhere to talk about TV, commercials, movies, comic books, etc.
Well, that didn't work out exactly as I planned. We still talk about a lot of off-topic stuff on the other groups. I got a lot of spammers, so I closed the membership to invitation only, which I think might have put off some people. And although I have one or two regulars who post, it's pretty much just me posting whatever weirdness I find (though I do post something every day, sometimes a couple of times per day).
The last straw came when I had to delete three memberships because the email addresses no longer exist. That's when I knew I had do something.
