Journeys To Other Planes

A long time ago, when I had both more time and energy, I used to play with both time and planar perceptions.

For example, I was heavily into the Eternal Champion. Characters were from different settings and would meet each other via Planescape, Ravenloft, Spelljammer or other plot device like the World Serpent Inn.

However, some of the characters would've meet the others one already, or had knowledge of their meeting in the future. It was complicated but fun.

Haven't done that in a while though as it basically meant running many mini-campaigns that lead to the build up of the meeting of the various Eternal Champions to pull off a "Four Who Are One" style adventure.

I've been planning on doing some minor plane-hopping in my current game (Mechanus, for now), so it will be interesting to see how that goes. I'll have to gauge my players' reactions to planer travelling before I determine if I'll do it a lot, or very rarely.

In one of the games I play in, the majority of the PC's are from another prime material plane, and are looking for a way to get back (my character is a native of the world the other PC's are stuck on).

In the games I DM, i like to plan a little planehopping, but sometimes I feel like the planes are just an excuse for weird and far-out stuff, and I have difficulty getting my players into it.

Other than that, I still consider the Planescape boxed sets (2nd ed.) to be one of the most incerdible piece of fantastic litterature ever produced :)
