joys of coffee

I just never found the appeal of coffee. My roommate has a coffee machine, and I journeyed with him to the coffee store downtown one day. They have coffee beans that they have somehow managed to permeate with coconut, or toffee, or mint.

I'm fairly certain I would enjoy a cup of coconut mint toffee coffee. That just sounds really yummy.

But regular coffee. No. I don't think I've ever drank any in my entire life. No desire to start now.

Ooh, timer's a good idea. Would be nice to have it brewing when I wake up.

Chocolate is also a good idea. :)

Only drink it at work but it is a must have, something some of the hardcore drinkers do that I find strange is add Swiss Miss Hot chocolate mix to their coffee! I have yet to try it but they swear by it! ;)

Four days ago I would have been a "I'm not a coffee drinker" too. I drank it to deal with a seemingly unrelated physical ailment(you don't want to know -- but it really did help). And then I discovered that I like the taste, with enough sugar and cream in it.

the real hardcore guys add Whisky or Bailey's for the Holidays.

a true Irish Coffee experience. ;)

Me, I'm not a coffee lover, I'm a caffeine intaker.

Though I do enjoy a good cup now and then. I find though the enjoyment of drinking coffee is as much abotu the atmosphere as it is about the drink.

That Gevalia stuff is pretty darn good. My company's current client got one for Christmas and offered us some the other day. It was as if I had never had a cup of coffee before, and it was Smoooooooooth.

I highly recommend the Home Cafe (http://www.homecafe.com/index.shtml).

My wife and I have different tastes in coffee, so this is a great way to allow us each to have what we want instead of making a whole pot and having it go to waste.

There's no worry about coffee getting cold or coming on at a certain time. Just pop in a "pod" of coffee, make sure it has water and hit the cup size you want brewed. A minute later you have a hot cup o' joe. And the site has coupons on it and you can get a rebate on the system if you buy one. :)

Sounds like you have plenty of advice on the coffee maker. I agree with the timer and carafe suggestions. Letting coffee sit on a burner for hours gives it a burnt taste, but it will keep in a carafe all day.

As far as the coffee itself, look for a local place that roasts their own beans. I don't care for Starbucks because the french roast everything, which gives it a very bitter taste. Experiment and find out what flavors you like. If you buy whole bean and grind it yourself you will get the freshest taste.

Welcome to the world of coffee lovers!

ooooh... do they add a packet to their cup, or do they put it in with the grounds before brewing. Either way it sound delish. :)

Coffee and loosing weight...

It is said that once upon a time you could not get good coffee in the US. Now with a Starbucks on every corner and coffee beans in every grocery store it seems like the coffee culture has caught up with even you, Eric Noah. (it got me, like so many others, in college, but that is another story).

Good coffee makers are now also cheap and abundant. We got a Braun for $20 just recently. Look for after Xmass sales.

You are missing out on the ultimate diet food. Black coffee. In fact enough black coffee and cigarettes and you can be as thin as a Parisian model--and still have all the red wine and sushi you want.

Cafine does also enhance alterness and can give the feeling of having a little more energy, it has been called a "benign addiction". Did I mention it was adictive...
