I think I might see Land of the Lost this weekend. Anyone else still in, or perhaps now planning to see it since this poll was made?

I saw Moon at SXSW this year!

Man am I glad I went to SXSW . . .

We kept making jokes into it that Space Oddity was going to start playing during it, or something stupid like that (Duncan Jones = David Bowie's son).

ANYWAY -

Moon is good. It's about a joe-schmoe in Space who maintains a facility for The Company, harvesting some whatsit from the Moon, when all of the sudden something goes wrong. The rest of the movie is Sam Rockwell talking to . . . himself (in so many ways) . . ., and HAL9000 wannabe GERTY, played by Kevin Spacey.

The above makes it sound bad, but it's actually pretty good. They did a good job at building tension, and having fun dialogue. I don't know, I don't want to say its predictable, because I think they play up on some of the stuff you think and deliberately switch it around. Some stuff they play at is exactly what you think it is though, too.

FYI, GERTY is not HAL9000.

I think I'm really spoiling it if I go into much more, unfortunately. I liked it, and the people I went with enjoyed it too.

I'll not see any of those. Transformers might have been a possibility apart from Michael Bay whose approach I can't stand :(

Ah well.

Boy Land of the Lost crashed.. #3 at the box office. But it was good to see Up at #1 and Star Trek still hovering around. Guess quality still does count.

I managed both. Land of the lost had some good (dumb) humor and some "big" CGI that made it worthwhile for an early showing big screen price, IMO.

I'm also glad I added Up to the list of Summer movies. It had a much more ageless message than I expected. Cross my heart. :)
