June Errata

I think devs are reluctant to errata the rules compendium... but you'll note that every zone they've done in the last year or so, including all the revisions of PHB stuff, is now a start or end of turn zone, or based on a free, opportunity, or immediate action, so that you can't do the slide trick on them.

I believe if you play an essentials game, frex, that particular problem has effectively already been excised from the game :)

Which is another shot added to the "anything published before the RC no longer exists" debate.

Its pre-E why bother to fix it? Combined with pawning off PHB1 content as "NEW" means that the devs arent actually developing anything(4e related).

I'd say it's more a "use with caution" - there are a number of odd things that occur when you mix and match what stuff you use (eldritch strike half-elf knights with white lotus master riposte, frex). It may or may not be a problem for some games. Or even most. Or a startling majority.

As always, you're best off in D&D if you don't _try_ and break the game. Whether that's ping ponging zones, or whatever.

I noticed that no one has mentioned the change to the Orb of Nimble Thoughts. It's now changing from +Int to Initiative to +enhancement bonus. No more buying a sub 1k gold OH item to add +5 or 6 to your init mod.

Oh I'm not surprised by the change honestly, I just saw people complaining about some other things and thought it was curious such a large buff to Int/orb based casters wasn't getting commented on :)

Isn't the answer to using monsters that are tougher than minions simply to use normal monsters?

The point of minions is to die en masse. They're like the mooks of Feng Shui and the brutes of 7th Sea. They're there for color, not for challenge.

They are for the Barbarian in the party.
And for procing all your magic and powers that work off death.
They are essential, the last thing you need is some dumbo wizard or other power killing them off en mase.

Animal Master companions now at least get scaling defenses

Was just looking at this and wondered if there had been any clarification of how "Their defenses scale with their master’s level".

One could assume that you just add level to the various defenses but the wording of the errata does not actually specify.

To be fair, an initiative bonus is good... but it's not going to win every combat for ya.

Actually...IME, if you get to go first and have a mass disable or another ability that also lets all the other players go first too (time warp, I think? some wizard spell) then yeah, it's a pretty good bet.
