June: What are you reading?

Daemonslayer - Gotrek and Felix. William King sure knows how to write an exciting tale. Provides nice insights into Warhammer dwarf culture as well.

Human Smoke: The Beginnings of World War II, the End of Civilization By Nicolson Baker

Bestselling author Nicholson Baker, recognized as one of the most dexterous and talented writers in America today, has created a compelling work of nonfiction bound to provoke discussion and controversy -- a wide-ranging, astonishingly fresh perspective on the political and social landscape that gave rise to World War II.

Human Smoke delivers a closely textured, deeply moving indictment of the treasured myths that have romanticized much of the 1930s and '40s. Incorporating meticulous research and well-documented sources -- including newspaper and magazine articles, radio speeches, memoirs, and diaries -- the book juxtaposes hundreds of interrelated moments of decision, brutality, suffering, and mercy. Vivid glimpses of political leaders and their dissenters illuminate and examine the gradual, horrifying advance toward overt global war and Holocaust.

Pretty friggin' amazing, if occasionally flawed in its omission of certain things.

Solomon Kane stories by REH. Really enjoying them!

Same here. I just started "Wings in the Night".

I'm also finishing up "More Martian Tales", which includes "Thuvia, Maid of Mars" and "The Chessmen of Mars" by Edgar Rice Burroughs.

I've been rereading the Psi-Man series by Peter David lately. Although the author ghost wrote them as 'David Peters' because when he wrote them he was a big name in the comic book business and didn't want people to know it was him right off unless the books were well liked.

Neat series of 6 short books that goes from a fairly normal seeming future world and adds in layers of weirdness and comic bookiness as the series progresses. So if you ever wanted to read the adventures of a powerful psionic Quaker Aikido master and his telepathic German Shepherd sidekick, pick it up and give it a shot! :D

I'm currently reading "The Blue Flame of Vengeance". Not knowing anything about the story before I started reading, I was pleasantly surprised to discover it had to do with pirates! How cool is that? Solomon Kane fighting pirates. That's almost like ninjas and pirates in the same world.

I so want to start a Savage Worlds SK game...

I've been reading Ruled Britannia by Harry Turtledove for the past few weeks. It's good and full of nice detail. Unfortunately, a big part of that detail is Elizabethan language. So translating that into modern English makes for some slow going.
