Junk I bought recently

What I love about the whitewolf books, is that they are modern. So modern, you could essentially play in Columbus Indiana. So unique, where they explain certain political situations within the game is explained by what is going on in the books. Perhaps I'm to drunk to really explain this....so....

For example:

The americans are "attacking" the iraqi's....is this an american powerplay? Or is this a Ventrue powerplay, within the american gorvernment, trying to subplant the Sabaat, who is trying to control the oil. Or perhaps the oil, is being pumped out because something beneath it, is a location of an elder.

Some background info...

Ventrue....lawyers, law makers, trying to create rules, to govern reality. Rules lawyers, Bob, Chris....maybe
Malkavian....whoa...did I just type out 1,000 letters? Awesome, I'll...Did you just here that sound? Wait, did you know that the static in the radio, is actually......
Tremere...dead? Can't remember what they are .... anyway, think magic users.
Sabaat...think NWO...'nuff said

Anyway, you can see there are quite a few different cultures in the Vampire society. There are more....a lot more....the anarchists, the fighters, the tree lovers, the typical "bram stockers", the theives...

I could go on and describe the mages and werewolves that I remember, but, II'm done typeing....

Frack! I would love to play a game.

Ditto. Let's do it! It'll breathe some new life into O.G. and the rest of us.

The thing about the World of Darkness is that run properly it is a dark setting. Very dark. Innocence means you are going to get eaten by something. And being cynical means you are just going to be eaten a bit further down the road. Acts of brutality are very, very common. But there is also a cerebral side, in that to survive you really need to be a conniving, back-stabbing, manipulative bastard.

I didn't much care for Vampire, mainly because I couldn't get over the roadblock of playing a blood-sucking, amoral monster. I understand that Mage, Changeling and Werewolf are a little less vile, but that generally they retain the conniving, manipulative tone of Vampire.

The thing I like about Hunter is that finally, the humans get to fight back, however feebly. Based on the flavor text in the book, it is the job of the Hunters to fight valiantly but futilely before they or their family gets killed, maimed, tortured or goes stark, raving mad. Kind of like Cthulhu with a personal touch. I have yet to read one of the short stories where a Hunter gets to go have a beer and celebrate a job well done.

Funny though, how many Vampire fans I have found online reviewing Hunter that absolutely hate it. I suspect that a large portion of that is because now your nattily dressed, ultra-goth vampire can get his brains beat in by a redneck with a crowbar. The biggest complaint seems to be "but the Hunters are superhuman too!"

Playing a vampire isn't all about, "I must suck your blood!". Their are subtlelies. There is the masquerade. We as vampires must not allow the cattle to know we exist. If the cattle know we exist, then we will be hunted down and destroyed. We must be subtle in our ways. Hunt down a whore who perhaps likes blood letting. Lets find a guy or gal who is into suicide. No, perhaps we can tell the cattle, that drinking blood will lead to the body of christ. Lets lead a cult...Was christ a cult?

oh wait, this probably won't lead you guys to playing Vampires. let me change the views.

The doors, the music group, was probably malkavian. Bringing people into music that made no sense, to some, but to others, it open doors, to.....the other side.

President Bush, powerful in the us government, may seem innocent, but perhaps he knew that the iraqis held sabaat vampires who were going to use biological agents wipe out all mankind. Though, I'm not sure why they'd do that. But, hey they are the sabaat.

Vampires can be your friends.

woah. I've been typing way to much about vampires....hey, the kindred just want to be friends.

Werewolves are just chris characters with power. Think of a big badass empowered chris character x 200². With rage, maybe.

I don't have much knowledge about werewolves. Except they prefer to balance the world with gaia. They believe the humans are corrupting the world. There needs to be more of a balance in the world.

Peacekeepers....werewolves.....
Peta....werewolves....
Enviromentalists.....werewolves....
Flame throwers with trees ... Brujah....just to make a pointless point. hah, we make no points. Haha, we do make pointless points....Anarchists.....vampires......
Rambo.....werewolves....

There are many factions of vampires...each clan has their own agenda. They each believe they are in the right.

Same with werewolves...Each tribe or pack is the same way.....though vampires and werewolves hate eachother

Kindred think humans are cattle. The pack believe that vampires are the abomination that made the humans create the technology. Which is what hurts the environment. The awakened just laughs at it all. No such thing as vamps or wolves. Just power.

We are the hunters that know how the world really is. We are the ones who see the blood suckers that were. We see that boy who really is the killer of 3rd street. We see that boy destroying the entire block. Why does the world think we are not who we are? That woman we killed, wasn't a woman but a wolf who preyed on that boy child. But, officer, that man stole a vial of blood for that boy who killed that girl, who needed that blood. You just don't know what is living underneath your bed.....or the wife who sleeps next to you.....

Horror? Or the ramblings of a mad(wo)man..........
