Just a little question on magic missile

I was wondering what the ruling is (if any) on magic missile and mirror image? Does it still auto hit or do we have to check each missile to see if they hit an image or the real thing?

I have no books on hand, but I believe that one of the most popular ways of removing mirror images is targeting a single magic missile at each of them...

Anyone confirm?
