Just bought a home: The game room setup

First Post
I just bought a new home, and the gameroom is a decent sized room. so far it has my computer and some bookshelves (nice cabinets). It also has some FR maps on the wall, I'm looking for some ideas on what I can do with it to make it have that "game room" feel.

Links to stuff I could buy for the walls, etc, would be appreciated as well as ideas on what kind of table, seating, lighting, why you like your game room, blah blah blah.

I have a nice size table and plenty of lights in mine. That way I can control the lighting if needed. If I had minis I'd get a glass cabnet to showcase them and for easy accessibility. Otherwise, I'd place them all over the place on shelves and end table. I go low tech, no computer. I don't use one when I game so no need for it to be in there. Plenty of chairs of course, maybe a mini fridge for drinks depending on the distance to the normal fridge.

And congrgats on the house!!

Definately a big table with lots of chairs, and I like the idea of the mini fridge. If you have any friends that do character art I might see if I could get some of that on the walls as rememberances of characters that have gone by and stuff. Lighting for mood lightning is really nice, I also like some mood music myself. Always lots of space for books and things, and paper, one can never have enough paper for SO many things...yeah...

Edit: I also like swords and stuff for that whole gaming feel, the whole thing that most of the games we play are sort of based on, old swords and magic.

No one wants to count the trees I have used to arrange good art work and prepare for more...also for the pencils I use. But I am more of a writing utensil addict.

I am less obsessive about the pens, but I love a great pencil sharpener. Oooooh. and pencils of quality that sharpen right. Years ago in school I got the cheap stuff and it was aweful.

'Grats on the new pad!

You'll need plenty of shelves for your books/boxed sets, a place for your minis, a nice large table, plenty of comfortable chairs, a desk for a computer, a small entertainment center if you want a tv and/or radio for the room and some space for a mini fridge.

If you've got a digital camera and a decent color printer, you could think about doing the following:

Get some pieces of molding from the hardward store and frame either a large corkboard or a piece of foamcore posterboard. Hang it on the wall and use it to place pictures of memorable bits from your game.

At the Game Days I help organize we always try and take pictures of intense or funny moments on the battlemat. Printing them out to go on the wall could preserve many good memories for years to come.
