Just Got Hit By A Drunk Driver

I was driving the van belonging to the mother of one of the players in my gaming group, since I'm generally regarded to be the best driver. He, his mom, my wife, and my two kids were along. We had gone to see Narnia courtesy of Henry - his Christmas present to all of us - and then went to eat at a local restaurant. On the way home, I was passing through an intersection (green light, my right-of-way) when BAM!

He hit the front passenger quarter panel and bent the wheel up and under - van is totalled. Bounced off and hit another car lightly coming from the other direction. We're a little sore, and I got some minor cuts on my stomach, but everyone in both "victim" vehicles was okay. The drunk driver, OTOH, had to be taken to the hospital unconscious.

So, all-in-all, an interesting evening, to be sure.

I assume the driver in question was arrested, pending his hospital stay?

Honestly, I'm not totally sure, but I would guess so. The officer said something about wanting "to put this guy on a cross", so I don't think things are going to go well for him....

My family lived through the worst nightmare that this could have been. Lost my dad to too little sleep and too long a trip.

Double check on everybody in the morning, often times, whiplash won't show up for a while.

I went to see the Zoolights with my parents and extended family (sister's husband side). On the way home I saw two separarte incidents of people pulled over by the police. My heart falls just a little when I see such things. I always pray and hope that whoever was involved is safe.

This is very good.

Well, not good, but usually, the ones that are badly injured in alcohol related accidents are not the one who was drinking, so it's better than normal in your case.
