From the perspective of hindsight, the ones I like best are the ones written by people that later went on to greater fame: Ed Greenwood, Katherine Kerr, and others. At one time they were just like most of us, writing an article about the game they loved, and which helped them go on to acheive some noteriety in the fantasy literature world.

Does it contain the minigames like Flight of the Boodles? Those were always fun. And the comic strips Fineous Fingers, Wormy, and Phil & Dixie were as good as anything put out today.

Yes & no. They are included, but some are incomplete. Plus, printing them in a playable format is tricky.

The missing inserts have been put up by WotC here (and it includes the full Deck of Many Things).

some of these articles mentioned were updated to 3.5 in Dragon Compendium vol 1. :)

My list is mostly a cut and paste from a previous thread by Erik soliciting input for "classic dragon articles", minus the ones that made the cut. ;) (Toxins of Cerellon, frex, was one I was happy to see make the cut.)

I remember that there was a "Role of Books" in which the columnist presented a novel that demonstrated how the monk could be introduced into a DND setting with a little alteration to the flavor. I wish that I could remember the title of the book. I guess that I need to reinstall my Dragon Magazine archives and search for it

Could it have been "Witchblood" by Will Shetterly? That was one of my sources for when I wrote "Bonds of Brotherhood".

I am not sure. It is possible as it sounds familair. Hopefully, I'll know tonight or tomorrow night. This thread has me going through my Dragon CD-Rom to make to make a list of my favorite articles and to also find that specific book, but I have to work the search around several activities between now and tomorrow tonight.

.. and now, I have to look at reading your article to my list of things to do. :p
