Just how geeky are you anyway?

I'm geeky enough to remember that there was already a long thread on this very topic.

But I'm apparently not geeky enough to be able to find it..... :\

Erica (DnDChick) posted it over on the Necromancer boards, so I just thought I'd share the love here. :)

Incidentally:

Nerd 34%; Geek 34%; Dork 17%

For The Record:

You scored less than half in all three, earning you the title of: Joe Normal.

Pure Geek
34 % Nerd, 82% Geek, 47% Dork
For The Record:

A Nerd is someone who is passionate about learning/being smart/academia.
A Geek is someone who is passionate about some particular area or subject, often an obscure or difficult one.
A Dork is someone who has difficulty with common social expectations/interactions.
You scored better than half in Geek, earning you the title of: Pure Geek.

It's not that you're a school junkie, like the nerd, and you don't really stand out in a crowd, like the dork, you just have some interests that aren't quite mainstream. Perhaps it's anime, perhaps it's computers, perhaps it's bottlecaps, perhaps it's all of those and more. Your interests take you to events and gatherings that are filled with people you find unusual and beyond-the-pale, but you don't quite consider yourself "of that crowd." Instead, you consider yourself to be fairly normal.

Which, you are.

Bout what I thought. ;)

Joe Normal

13 % Nerd, 34% Geek, 13% Dork

Pretty much what I thought. Although the fairly high geek score worries me.

My geek interests are:

- I game
- I liked the Star Wars movies, and I enjoy most Sci-Fi/Fantasy based movies.
- 90% of the websites I frequent are all gaming based
- I read Fantasy
- I'm overweight and have a goatee.
- I have attended multiple Gen Cons.

What saves me from being a geek is:

- I enjoy watching and participating in many sports.
- I work in Sales and marketing.
- I own very few black t-shirts.
- I do not watch the Sci Fi Channel.
- I don't care for Star Trek or Babylon 5.
- I do not play, nor collect any Collectible card or miniature games.

You scored better than half in Nerd and Geek, earning you the title of: Modern, Cool Nerd.

Nerds didn't use to be cool, but in the 90's that all changed. It used to be that, if you were a computer expert, you had to wear plaid or a pocket protector or suspenders or something that announced to the world that you couldn't quite fit in. Not anymore. Now, the intelligent and geeky have eked out for themselves a modicum of respect at the very least, and "geek is chic." The Modern, Cool Nerd is intelligent, knowledgable and always the person to call in a crisis (needing computer advice/an arcane bit of trivia knowledge). They are the one you want as your lifeline in Who Wants to Be a Millionaire (or the one up there, winning the million bucks)!

Of course, I think these online tests are BS, and usually avoid them, but this seemed mildly interesting.

I am "somewhat" geeky.

- I play D&D
- I love anime, but only certain kinds (sci-fi, mostly)
- I like sci-fi, but certainly not all: I like Star Wars and Star Trek, but absolutely have no interest in any of that "expanded universe" nonsense. I don't care to ever see Star Trek (or any other sci-fi show) in re-runs.
- I post at ENWorld and Necro games when at work (and nowhere else)
- own lots of black t-shirts

Mitigators:
- I don't care for comics at all
- I don't care for CCGs, or most board games for that matter
- I'm not really up on computers and "stuff like that".
- not overweight, 'normal' social relationships, well-paid professional
- couldn't care about writing in the least

Diagnosis?

(And for the test: Joe Normal; 21 % Nerd, 26% Geek, 13% Dork)

That test is not a good substitute for specifically listing your geeky traits, though! :)

I role play many games
I like and read sci fi and fatasy
I have too many Magic cards
I like Luke Ski and have all his albums

but:
I don't really like anime
don't collect comics
have few black cloths and don't wear them much
