Kalamar losing popularity?

Can arcady or anyone give me any details on how KoK fits the ramifications of magic into it the setting and it's social fabric? I think that was one point IC made that arcady rebuffed, and I'm interested in hearing details.

Is there a KoK published adventure that I should consider as a good starting point (both in terms of entertaining my combat-oriented group and grabbing them into the KoK world rather than them seeing it as an extension of what they are used to?)

(Again, I've had limited exposure to KoK websites, and the official Kenzer site has downloads limited to character sheets).

Kalamar has several low level adventures which are good as a start in several regions:
- Reanaaria bay: Coins Trilogy (Root of all Evil, Forging Darkness, Coins End)
- Kalamaran Empire: Invasion of Arun'Kid
- Brandobia: Aldrivs Revenge or Stand&Deliver
- Young Kingdoms: Harvest of Darkness
There are more, I suggest to have a look at the www.kenzerco.com page to check the product list of Kalamar...

Many of these adventures have been modified and played several times by boardmembers on the Kalamar boards, we're always happy to share our ideas.

That's another point that was discussed a lot on the boards there. The setting is mostly variable, so you can run Harnworld campaigns there or high magic stuff with plane hopping. The setting book gives ideas how to fit more high level spellcasters into the world in case you want some (e.g. as wandering mages).

As said above, just ask on the boards over there and there will be many guys who have more suggestions.

I don't think any book has ever grabbed my attention like Midnight. This really must set the standard in campaign settings for years to come.

Not since the final chapter of the Enemy Within campaign (Empire in Flames) did I sit down and just read an RPG book like a novel from start to finish.

Right, but it say "Kalamar" right there on the cover, yes? Kalamar, the setting. That so much content is "exportable" is not relevant to the success of the book, as it's not a Export book, it's a PHB for a specific setting. If someone passes it by thinking "I don't want to play Kalamar," it can only be because KenzerCo set it up to be thus.

I'm grumbly about paying $30 for softcovers, so I haven't gotten around to buying it yet, but it's the only one in its field I'm considering buying. I'm also really impressed with your fast responses here to address erratta and stuff, and to get downloads up at Eden's site in support of your book.

Lizard and Doug had a lot more to do with getting the book done than I did. I just designed the core rules and ethos of the book. I think I can speak for all three of us when I say we're happy you like it!
