Kansas City Game Day - A success! Photos on page 12.

Dante, and Sir Whiskers - excellent. Look forward to meeting both of you.

Sir Whiskers - we can run whatever anyone is willing to run. I can certainly run D&D, but if others are willing to run some non D&D stuff, then that would be just peachy. Once we have an idea of how many will be there, we'll have a better idea of how many events we'll need to run. It wouldn't be out of the question to request some events, and then we'll see if anyone would be able and willing to run them.

I have no preference for games but I have a couple I'm dying to play...

I really want to play something D&D and set in Bluffside *hint Hint* (aren't I subtle ;))

I just bought Mutants and Masterminds and think that'd be a hoot to try too.

I'm really willing to play anything, however! (ain't fence-ridin' fun? :D )

Not that I live here now, but...

Hey, all. Been lurking a while, saw something on Kansas City, and thought I'd stick my head in. Currently, I live in northern Virginia, but come August (probably the first half of it), I and my gaming group are moving to Kansas City. I've got a girlfriend out there, and I've been planning on moving to be with her, and I managed to convince two of my friends to come as well, with the promise of a year-long campaign or two. That said, I obviously can't make it to anything that's happening between now and then (only slated for a visit around Memorial Day to finalize living situations -- probably going to be in Olathe or the Overland Park area), but after August, count the three of us in for most things. I think this is a great way to get involved with other gamers in the area, especially with me maybe being there longer than they will -- we're always looking for a fourth or fifth member to the group.

We're all going to be fresh out of college, and we've all been gaming since middle school, mostly WoD and D&D, though I wouldn't mind tossing together a Kult session or two at one of these if anyone's interested. Is this looking like a one-shot deal, or annual, bi-annual, every three months, what?

Also, since it's hard to keep stuff up noticeable on the forums, anyone thought of putting together a mailing list or Yahoogroup or some such for this? Easy to get it all in one place and organized.

I'll be keeping an eye on this, too. This is a great idea, and I'm fortunate to have found it. And to think, I was worried KC wouldn't have much of a gaming market...

This is Matt.

Welcome to EnWorld, Kid. From what I've seen KC's gaming climate is somewhat unusual. I've seen quite a variation. There's a large Warhammer fanbase here, as well as snippets of Star Wars, and even Hero. In fact, when I moved here, I was somewhat taken aback by the popular of the Hero system here.

The only convention that is held is an awful one, something called Shauncon (named for one of the members of the local RPGA group here). It's more or less a good ol' boy club that pretty much cares only for RPGA "Living" events, and thus focus all their energy on gaining every point, and playing every scenario they can get their grubby hands on at their "conventions". At least, that's my take on it. Others here might have a different opinion.

Heya die_kluge

We should start a new organization, or at least discuss it.

The RPGKC is a pain in the butt and it is their "good old boy" club that is responsible for the shaun-con atrocity any way.

If you are interested, contact me. I have tons of free time of late.

In fact one of the members of my gaming group goes to several conventions a year and runs LARPs for a game company (of sorts) in the region, but I guess there was some falling out between his organization and the KCRPG(?) He's interested in coming to talk about the convention to get info on them possibly doing an event.

Oh and Curtis, don't let me pressure you, if you want to run something else, I'd just as eagerly play that too... :)

Katerek, that's a swell idea! And that might tie in with Kid Socrates' idea of setting up some kind of YahooGroup where we can continue that discussion. That might be something we want to bring up at the Game Day. Phil (of TableTop) probably would want to be included in those discussions.

Well, if a Yahoo group is started I can help moderate it. I do not know how Phil feels about the RPGKC, but I have heard at least three other area FLGS owners refer to them as "extortionists" and the like.

I will most likely be bringing 2 guests along with, although the number could climb as high as 4 or 5.

And if you hadn't noticed yet, Phil has posted a notice for the GameDay on his BBoard in his shop. There will be some carry over traffic from that as well I suspect.

For those of you coming I strongly suggest car-pooling where possible. Parking is something of an issue.

Curtis,

I just got an e-mail from someone regarding the convention discussion, do you want me to e-mail you a copy, it's interesting, but I don't want to take away from the relevant discussion here

:)
