D&D General Kara Tur 5e

I can see two groups.
1. the benevolent society that does things for adventurers behind the scenes.

2. but I'm a sucker for another group

They are technically Argentine mercenaries, but the Japanese wrote them, so maybe some sort of rowdy bunch of mercenaries to use as friends or foes? perhaps with a tweak of full metal panic where the mercs have a tendency to take regular jobs to get intel?

edit: did some stewing on potential names:

Martial & Bold

  • The Iron Banner Company – flying their own war flag wherever they go.
  • Steel Dragons – invoking Kara-Tur’s reverence for dragons with a mercenary spin.
  • The Thunder Battalion – loud, unruly, and hard to miss in a fight.

Eastern Flavor

  • The Jade Talons – elite, sharp, and tied to a Kara-Tur motif.
  • The Crimson Monsoon – evoking both bloodshed and unstoppable force of nature.
  • The Tiger Banner – borrowing from war banners of old, fierce and martial.

Recon & Mobility

  • Shadow Lancers – fast-moving and adept at striking deep.
  • Storm Pioneers – scouting, blasting, and paving the way for others.
  • Iron Nomads – mercs always on the move, selling their guns where needed.

Tongue-in-Cheek (fits rowdy vibe)

  • The Wild Banner Society – equal parts chaos and fraternity.
  • Gunpowder Brothers – loud, messy, and unignorable.
  • The Blazing Gourd Company – a Kara-Tur spin on rowdy mercs carrying “lucky” sake gourds into battle.
For me it comes down to the steel dragons or the blazing gourd company, but seeing which names grab you?

While I am partisan for Kozakura and Wa - 1st Edition, not 2e, 3e, or 5e - Kara-Tur - and see no reason why any particular OA/KT campaign needs more than that ne country as its origin …

Medieval Hawaii is super interesting too.

#Tonguez if you found that interesting you should see a map of Canada imposed upon Europe. Not only does Canada partially or fully cover ever single Europe & Middle East country except maybe Yemen, it covers the northern coastline of Africa, including Cairo. That is how massive Canada is.

yup, Canada is a desolate wasteland that is surprisingly interesting, which I hope I portrayed in another thread. :D

I'll be blunt

What areas in Kara-tur are criminally underwritten?

I'm having an absolute blast filling in the holes. :D

Desolate is in the eye of the beholder. Xanthar to be specific.

Anyways about Kara Tur there was supposed to be a fantasy Sri Lanka and fantasy Thialand, but they never got to it in time. You could start there.

Is anybody selling a Canada setting? Dungeon did have multiple Canadian themed adventures back in the day.
Not Canada-specific, but there is Heroes of Mythic America, which is a supplement for a wide range of pre-Colombian American peoples and civilisations, including some who ranged across Canada.

I backed it on KS, the completion was very late but books are being mailed out now, presumably you can buy the PDF somewhere.

Not selling I don't think, but as Shades of Eternity noted, they are sharing their setting for fREE here on ENWorld
