Keep on the Sahdowfell questions

Another question

I've read the PreGen characters a few times, but I fail to get my head around the wizard's spell progression. By a literal reading of the character sheets, he has two (daily) spells on level one and must choose one to cast that day. On level two and three he has three spells and can still only choose one.

Is this correct or is there a reference somewhere about increasing the number of (daily) spells as the wizard gains levels.

Good so far.

Not quite. The new "daily" power the Wizards gains at 2nd level is actually a "Utility" power. In the Wizard's case, it's usable once per day, but for some other classes (the Rogue for example) it is usable more often.

So the Wizard still picks one of his two "Daily Power" spells to prepare every day, and also gains the use of "Expeditious Retreat" once per day in addition.

ETA: This is all a bit clearer if you look at the powers by class level chart included in the Tiers excerpt on WotC site here: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/4ex/20080416a
