Kensai Question

Kafkonia

First Post
I have a question about the kensai's ability to enhance his weapon. Is the enhancement limit on the chart a limit on how much of an enhancement he can add, or how much of an enhancement the weapon can have?

In other words, if I have a +1 longsword and take a level of kensai, can I add a +1 bonus to it (say, flaming)? Or would I be limited only to making a masterwork weapon into a +1 weapon at that point?

My Shackled City character is heading towards a kensai build, but I won't be able to get it until 8th level and by that point I may very well have a +1 weapon (or better) already.

His current class levels limits the amount of enhancement a kensai can place into his signature weapon.

A 4th level Kensai can add up to +4 to his signature weapon. No where in the PrC does it state that the signature weapon can't be of higher enchantment than his Kensai level... it only limits what the Signature Weapon ability adds to it.

I haven't yet looked for errata.

Thanks, upon rereading I see I missed that part.

Weapon level limit

Can the Kensai's signature blade become higher then a +10 weapon?

I'm not sure because nowhere in d&d does it mention a weapon higher then +10...(I might be wrong i havn't thuroughly searched it out.
