Well, it's got stuff that's common to most games (STR, DEX, CON, etc.) but it's our own new system, not d20.

There are no classes, for example. You advance by doing (professions, skills, gunfighting, etc.), to improve your abilities, earn money, improve skills and earn Building Points to help you towards your goals.

If you saw Aces & Eights: Showdown, combat is very similar to that - it uses the Shot Clock and silhouettes for gunfights.

Skills, quirks, flaws and talents are similar to what's been in HackMaster, but much more streamlined and realistic.

There's also lots of new stuff, including immense detail on character building, roleplaying, adventure ideas, prospecting, ranching, professions, mini-games for such things as cattle drives and trial systems (frontier justice), two towns, pre-made NPCs, and much more.

Aces & Eights is all about giving you everything you need for growing your character into a power broker in a long-term campaign, so it's not just chasing outlaws or robbing banks.

I think this came out years ago? Is this a special edition? (Or was is vaporware for years? I know I heard about it years ago)

Aces & EIghts: Showdown (miniatures skirmish game) came out a couple of years ago. We've been working on the full Shattered Frontier RPG for years, and demoing the combat at conventions, so you've probably heard about it. :)
