[KenzerCo] Goods and Gear - update

Hi Mark! Could you tell us a lirttle more about the Alchemy in Ch. 9? How many items are included, did you incorporate any OGL stuff from other sources, are you using any of Bastion Press' alchemy rules (gah, I hope not!), etc?

I don't have the final document at hand, so I'm not sure how many items are in that chapter - probably 80-100. We definitely didn't use any of Bastion Press' or any other d20 publisher's material, though.

Cool! I can always use more alchemy. You may want to double-check that number though, seems very high. Even the Arms & Equipment Guide and Ultimate Equipment Guide *combined* have fewer alchemical items than that!

If you didn't use any other publisher's material, did you at least make sure your new items are balanced and don't have too much overlap with respect to other published items? I must have about 10-15 light producing items from different sources by now, all slightly different and with more or less balanced prices and craft DC's. Isn't that exactly what the OGL was intended to avoid? Not re-inventing the wheel and all that...

I have to disagree (not that it matters at this point), but I'd rather the book be complete and/or redundant rather than rely on the hope that readers already have certain books. Actually, I'd like to see the PHB equipment meshed in with the additional equipment just so I don't have to skip from book to book.

That's what I meant. The OGL was intended to encourage re-use. So rather than publishing yet another slightly different alchemical light source, I would *greatly* prefer they just picked one or two already published ones, and included those.

Wow - how can I say this without saying too much. I want to leave any surprises. Hmmm... I'll just say that there's probably some stuff you've seen before, and definitely a lot you haven't.

Hmm... so based on the pdf preview, the "Alchemical Mixtures" section is only 4 pages long. Guess that estimate of 80-100 alchemical items was slightly exaggerated, hm?

Heck, the whole "Concoctions" chapter is only 11 pages long. 80-100 items in total might be feasible, especially if you count new poisons that only take up a line in a table...

Anyway, looking forward to having a look at it sometime soon!

Ooops. Well, the font is fairly small, but yes, my estimate was for the total items in that chapter, not just alchemical mixtures. Sorry about the confusion! :)

There's about 40 different alchemical items, with a word count of about 4,200 total just for them (including the table).
