We're so excited because today Tales and Tomes Season 1: Tekumel launched today!! If you don't know Tekumel, it was the second RPG published by TSR (under the name Empire of the Petal Throne), it was the first non-Western RPG setting, and was created by MAR Barker often called "the forgotten Tolkien." Gary Gygax said he couldn't imagine a greater setting ever being published after. So why did it have a sordid publishing history with poor commercial success?
We're going to create a 5 part audio documentary telling the story of Tekumel, Barker, and the game throughout the years. It'll include history and gameplay! We'll also create a zine for each episode with material you can use to play Tekumel. If you care about RPG history, it's so important for us to preserve these important stories and the living memory of those who knew and played with Barker. We also have access to archives and never-before released audio of Professor Barker!
